Description

A creamy and comforting tuna casserole with tender egg noodles, sweet peas, and a golden breadcrumb topping.


Ingredients

  • 300 grams egg noodles, uncooked
  • 2 cans tuna in water, about 160 grams each, drained well
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup frozen green peas
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius and grease a 9 by 13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cook egg noodles until al dente and drain.
  3. Melt butter in saucepan, stir in flour, cook 1 minute.
  4. Whisk in milk and cook until thickened. Stir in cheddar, salt, and pepper.
  5. Combine noodles, tuna, and peas in baking dish.
  6. Pour sauce over mixture and stir gently.
  7. Sprinkle breadcrumbs on top and bake 20 to 25 minutes until bubbly and golden.

Notes

  • Do not overcook pasta before baking.
  • Let casserole rest before serving.
  • Add extra cheese on top for more golden color.
