Description

A fresh and vibrant tomato salad made with ripe sliced tomatoes, red onion, basil, and a simple olive oil vinaigrette. Light, refreshing, and perfect as a quick side dish.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 large ripe tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Slice the tomatoes evenly and place them in a serving bowl or platter.
  2. Thinly slice the red onion and layer it over the tomatoes.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together extra virgin olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Drizzle the dressing evenly over the tomatoes and onions.
  5. Let the salad rest for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  6. Scatter fresh basil leaves over the top just before serving.
  7. Serve at room temperature and enjoy.

Notes

  • Use ripe, in season tomatoes for the best flavor.
