Description

Soft and fluffy sweet potato rolls with a gentle sweetness and beautiful golden color, perfect for holidays and family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup mashed sweet potato
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Combine warm milk and active dry yeast and let sit 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in mashed sweet potato, granulated sugar, melted unsalted butter, and egg.
  3. Add all purpose flour and salt gradually to form a soft dough.
  4. Knead for 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place in greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1 hour.
  6. Divide into 12 pieces and shape into balls. Place in greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  7. Cover and let rise 30 to 40 minutes.
  8. Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 18 to 22 minutes until golden.
  9. Cool slightly before serving.

  • Use smooth mashed sweet potato.
  • Allow dough to rise fully for fluffiness.
  • Do not overbake to keep rolls soft.
  • Freeze baked rolls up to 2 months.
