- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1 tablespoon coarse salt
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead dough for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes until slightly puffed.
- Divide dough into ropes and cut into bite sized pieces.
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil and carefully add baking soda.
- Boil pretzel bites in batches for 20 to 30 seconds, then remove with a slotted spoon and place on prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until deep golden brown.
- Brush with melted butter if desired and sprinkle with coarse salt.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.
