Description

Tender and juicy turkey meatballs slow cooked in rich marinara sauce until perfectly flavorful. This easy slow cooker recipe creates a comforting and versatile meal with minimal effort.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground turkey (about 900 grams)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 3 cups marinara sauce

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease the inside of the slow cooker.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, chopped onion, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into evenly sized meatballs, about 1 1/2 inches wide.
  4. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of the slow cooker.
  5. Place the meatballs in a single layer and pour the remaining marinara sauce over the top.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours, until the meatballs reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  7. Gently stir to coat meatballs in sauce before serving.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the turkey mixture to keep the meatballs tender.
  • Use lean but not extra lean turkey for best moisture.
  • Avoid lifting the lid frequently during cooking.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
