- 2 pounds ground turkey (about 900 grams)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 3 cups marinara sauce
Instructions
- Lightly grease the inside of the slow cooker.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, chopped onion, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix gently until just combined.
- Shape the mixture into evenly sized meatballs, about 1 1/2 inches wide.
- Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Place the meatballs in a single layer and pour the remaining marinara sauce over the top.
- Cover and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours, until the meatballs reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Gently stir to coat meatballs in sauce before serving.
Notes
- Do not overmix the turkey mixture to keep the meatballs tender.
- Use lean but not extra lean turkey for best moisture.
- Avoid lifting the lid frequently during cooking.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
