- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 2 large egg whites
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- Red food coloring a few drops
- 24 mini candy pieces for noses
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract. Mix well.
- Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix into wet ingredients.
- Chill dough 30 minutes. Roll to 1/4 inch thickness and cut shapes.
- Bake 8 to 10 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Cool completely.
- Beat egg whites with lemon juice, gradually add powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Tint part of icing red. Pipe decorations and add candy noses. Let icing set fully before serving.
Notes
- Chill dough to prevent spreading.
- Let cookies cool before icing.
- Store in airtight container.
