- 1.5 pounds ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
- 1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
- Fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Set a large skillet over medium heat and let it warm up.
- In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Shape into oval patties.
- Add oil or butter to the skillet and melt it.
- Place patties in the skillet and sear for 4–5 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Melt butter in the same skillet and whisk in flour to make a roux. Slowly add beef broth, whisking constantly.
- Stir in cream, horseradish, and parmesan. Simmer until thickened.
- Return patties to skillet and spoon sauce over the top. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Plate with mashed potatoes or side of choice, spoon sauce over, and garnish with fresh parsley.
Notes
- Use 80/20 beef for best juiciness.
- Grate your own parmesan for better melting and taste.
- Adjust horseradish to taste for desired heat.
