Description

A silky tomato cream pasta made with penne, garlic, crushed tomatoes, and a touch of cream for a smooth and comforting finish.


Ingredients

  • 12 ounces penne pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes, 28 ounces
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook penne in salted boiling water until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water and drain.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and crushed red pepper flakes and cook 1 minute.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, salt, and black pepper. Simmer 10 to 12 minutes.
  4. Add heavy cream and simmer 3 to 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Add cooked penne to the sauce and toss to coat. Add reserved pasta water as needed.
  6. Stir in grated Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.
  7. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Salt pasta water generously for better flavor.
  • Reserve pasta water to adjust sauce texture.
  • Simmer sauce gently for best depth.
  • Reheat with a splash of water or cream.
