Description
These No-Bake Boston Cream Pie Bars are the perfect chilled dessert with layers of graham crackers, homemade vanilla custard, and a glossy chocolate ganache topping. No oven required!
Ingredients
- Graham Crackers: About 12 full sheets
- Whole Milk: 2 cups
- Granulated Sugar: 1/2 cup
- Egg Yolks: 4 large
- Cornstarch: 1/4 cup
- Unsalted Butter: 2 tablespoons
- Vanilla Extract: 1 tablespoon
- Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips: 1 cup
- Heavy Cream: 1/2 cup
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together milk, sugar, egg yolks, and cornstarch until smooth. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened into custard. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla.
- Line an 8×8 baking dish with parchment paper. Layer graham crackers on the bottom.
- Spread half the custard over the crackers. Add another layer of crackers, then the remaining custard. Top with a final layer of crackers.
- Heat the cream until just simmering, pour over chocolate chips, let sit for 2 minutes, then stir into smooth ganache.
- Spread ganache over the top cracker layer evenly.
- Cover and chill for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight.
- Slice into bars and serve chilled.
Notes
- Use full-fat milk for creamier custard.
- Chill overnight for clean slices and best flavor.
- Warm your knife before slicing for neat cuts.
