Description

A juicy, perfectly seasoned beef patty topped with melted cheddar cheese and layered with crisp lettuce, tomato, red onion, and pickles on a toasted brioche bun. This classic cheeseburger is simple, flavorful, and ready in just 25 minutes.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (80 percent lean)
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 brioche burger buns
  • 4 large lettuce leaves
  • 1 large tomato, sliced into 4 thick rounds
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 8 pickle slices
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat a cast iron skillet or grill pan over medium high heat until hot.
  2. Gently form the ground beef into four equal patties and season both sides with salt and black pepper.
  3. Place patties in the hot pan and cook for about 4 minutes on the first side.
  4. Flip the patties, add one slice of cheddar cheese on each, and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes until melted and cooked through.
  5. Spread butter on the cut sides of the buns and toast them in a separate pan until golden.
  6. Layer lettuce, tomato, red onion, and pickles on the bottom bun.
  7. Place the cheesy patty on top, close with the upper bun, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Do not overwork the beef when forming patties to keep them tender.
  • Avoid pressing down on the patties while cooking to retain juices.
  • Let the cooked patties rest for a few minutes before assembling.
  • Toast the buns lightly to prevent sogginess.
