- 1 pound ground beef (80 percent lean)
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 4 brioche burger buns
- 4 large lettuce leaves
- 1 large tomato, sliced into 4 thick rounds
- 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
- 8 pickle slices
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
- Preheat a cast iron skillet or grill pan over medium high heat until hot.
- Gently form the ground beef into four equal patties and season both sides with salt and black pepper.
- Place patties in the hot pan and cook for about 4 minutes on the first side.
- Flip the patties, add one slice of cheddar cheese on each, and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes until melted and cooked through.
- Spread butter on the cut sides of the buns and toast them in a separate pan until golden.
- Layer lettuce, tomato, red onion, and pickles on the bottom bun.
- Place the cheesy patty on top, close with the upper bun, and serve immediately.
Notes
- Do not overwork the beef when forming patties to keep them tender.
- Avoid pressing down on the patties while cooking to retain juices.
- Let the cooked patties rest for a few minutes before assembling.
