Description

Flaky, golden tarts filled with melted cheese and softly set eggs, creating a warm and comforting dish perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a cozy meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Gruyere cheese
  • 2 tablespoons milk or cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh herbs, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and lightly grease a muffin tin or small tart molds.
  2. Whisk the milk with salt and pepper in a small bowl.
  3. Cut the puff pastry into 6 squares and press each one gently into the molds.
  4. Add a handful of cheese to each pastry cup.
  5. Crack one egg into each tart and drizzle a little of the milk mixture over the top.
  6. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until the pastry is golden and the eggs are cooked to your liking.
  7. Sprinkle herbs or extra pepper on top and serve warm.

Notes

  • Keep the pastry cold before baking for maximum flakiness.
  • Do not overbake if you prefer soft, runny yolks.
  • Add vegetables like spinach or tomatoes for extra flavor.
