- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup cooked ham, diced
- 2 tablespoons fresh chives, finely chopped
- 3/4 cup whole milk, cold
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten (for brushing)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in shredded cheddar, diced ham, and chopped chives.
- Add cold milk and gently mix until a soft dough forms. Do not overmix.
- Transfer dough to a lightly floured surface and pat into a 1 inch thick round.
- Cut into 8 even rounds and place on prepared baking sheet.
- Brush tops with beaten egg.
- Bake for 18 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Cool slightly on a rack before serving.
