Description

Sweet, salty, and lightly spiced, these candied cocktail nuts by Dorie Greenspan are the perfect party snack or edible gift. They come together quickly and deliver irresistible crunch and flavor in every bite.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups mixed nuts (raw, unsalted)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 cup water


Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine sugar, salt, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper. Stir in water to form a thick paste.
  3. Pour the mixture into a skillet or saucepan and add the mixed nuts.
  4. Place the pan over medium heat and stir constantly as the sugar mixture begins to bubble.
  5. Continue stirring until the liquid thickens, crystallizes, and then melts into a glossy coating around the nuts.
  6. Remove from heat and quickly spread the nuts on the prepared baking sheet, separating them slightly.
  7. Let them cool completely, then break apart any clusters and serve or store.
