Description
Thick-cut, golden crispy cottage fries with fluffy centers and seasoned to perfection. The ultimate comfort side dish, perfect for any meal or snack time.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 large Russet Potatoes, sliced into 1/4-inch thick rounds
- 1/3 cup Vegetable Oil
- 1 teaspoon Sea Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1 tablespoon Fresh Parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F if baking, or heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat if frying.
- In a large bowl, toss the potato slices with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
- For baking, line a sheet with parchment paper and arrange the slices in a single layer. For frying, test oil heat by dropping in a slice to check for sizzle.
- Place slices into the oil or on the tray, making sure they’re not overlapping.
- Fry for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown. If baking, roast for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate. Sprinkle with extra salt and parsley while hot.
- Serve immediately with dips or alongside your favorite dishes.
Notes
- Soaking the potatoes removes excess starch for better crispiness.
- Use a mandoline for uniform slices.
- Finish baked fries under the broiler for extra crunch.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in an oven or air fryer.
