Description

A juicy classic cheeseburger with melted cheddar, fresh crisp vegetables, and a perfectly toasted bun, ready in just 25 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450 grams) ground beef, 80 percent lean
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese (about 80 grams total)
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 1 large tomato, sliced into 4 thick rounds
  • 1 small white onion, sliced into rings
  • 4 tablespoons ketchup
  • 4 teaspoons mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet or grill pan over medium high heat.
  2. Form the ground beef into 4 equal patties and season both sides with salt and black pepper.
  3. Lightly oil the pan if needed.
  4. Cook patties for 3 to 4 minutes per side. Add a slice of cheddar cheese during the last minute to melt.
  5. Ensure the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  6. Toast the burger buns lightly until golden.
  7. Spread ketchup and mustard on the buns. Layer lettuce, tomato, onion, and the cheesy patty. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Do not press the patties while cooking to keep them juicy.
  • Let patties rest for a few minutes before assembling.
  • Use room temperature cheese for better melting.
