Description

Festive candy cane cookies with red and white swirls, soft buttery texture, and classic vanilla flavor, perfect for holiday baking and gifting.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Red food coloring a few drops
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs, vanilla extract, almond extract, and salt. Mix well.
  4. Gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms.
  5. Divide dough in half. Tint one half red with food coloring. Chill 30 minutes.
  6. Roll small pieces of each color into 5 inch ropes. Twist together and curve into candy cane shape.
  7. Place on baking sheet and bake 8 to 10 minutes until lightly golden at edges.
  8. Cool completely and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
