Description

Light, fluffy, and bursting with fresh citrus flavor! These homemade orange muffins are moist, soft, and perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a quick snack. Topped with a hint of sugar glaze or enjoyed as is, they’re a refreshing treat!


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 cup milk (or buttermilk for extra moisture)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a muffin tin with paper liners or grease lightly.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, orange zest, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, mix the orange juice, milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  • Gradually fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined (do not overmix).
  • Fill each muffin cup about ¾ full.
  • Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let cool for 5 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For extra orange flavor, add ½ tsp orange extract.
  • Sprinkle with coarse sugar before baking for a crispy top.
  • Add chocolate chips or dried cranberries for a twist!
