Description

A flavorful twist on the traditional Turkish flatbread, this Turkey Lahmacun with Harissa Dill Yogurt blends spiced ground turkey on a crisp, thin crust topped with a cool, herby yogurt sauce for the perfect balance of heat and freshness.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 red bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon harissa paste
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a baking sheet or stone inside to heat.
  2. In a bowl, combine flour, yeast, salt, olive oil, and warm water. Knead for 5 minutes, then cover and rest for 30 minutes.
  3. In a skillet, sauté onion, garlic, and bell pepper in olive oil until soft. Add ground turkey, tomato paste, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned and fragrant.
  4. Roll out dough into thin rounds and spread a thin layer of the turkey mixture on each.
  5. Bake on the hot baking sheet for 7–9 minutes until golden and crisp.
  6. Mix Greek yogurt, harissa paste, dill, lemon juice, and salt in a bowl until smooth.
  7. Top hot lahmacun with the harissa dill yogurt, garnish with herbs, and serve immediately.
