- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream butter and sugar in a large bowl until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in sour cream and vanilla.
- In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet mixture until just combined.
- Cover and chill dough for at least 1 hour.
- Roll dough on a floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into shapes or scoop into rounds.
- Place on baking sheets and bake 8–10 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
- Cool for 5 minutes on the sheet, then transfer to a wire rack. Frost or glaze if desired.
Notes
- For thicker, puffier cookies, chill the dough longer.
- Don’t overbake – remove when centers look just set.
- Dust rolling pin with powdered sugar to avoid tough cookies.
- Store in airtight container to keep cookies soft for days.
