Description

Sloppy Joe Crescent Bake is a hearty and easy-to-make casserole that combines savory sloppy joe filling with flaky crescent roll dough, creating a comforting, flavorful dish perfect for weeknight dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 cup sloppy joe sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef, onion, and bell pepper. Cook until the beef is browned and the vegetables are tender, about 7-8 minutes.
  3. Drain excess fat, then stir in sloppy joe sauce. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, allowing the mixture to thicken. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Unroll the crescent roll dough and lay it out in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, pressing the dough to fit the bottom and sides of the dish.
  5. Spread the sloppy joe mixture evenly over the dough.
  6. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  7. Unroll the remaining crescent dough and lay it on top of the cheesy filling, pinching the edges to seal.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  9. Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add a few dashes of hot sauce or red pepper flakes to the sloppy joe mixture.
  • You can use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef for a lighter option.
  • For extra flavor, sprinkle some garlic powder or onion powder over the top of the dough before baking.
