- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup pepperoni slices, chopped
- 1 1/2 cups pizza sauce
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded provolone cheese (optional)
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 toasted burger buns
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add diced onion and garlic, sauté until softened.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
- Drain excess fat, then stir in pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
- Stir in chopped pepperoni and mix well.
- Reduce heat to low, add mozzarella and provolone cheese, and stir until melted.
- Spoon the filling onto toasted burger buns and serve hot.
Notes
- Toast the buns to prevent sogginess.
- Use freshly shredded cheese for better melting and texture.
- For a spicier version, add extra red pepper flakes or hot sauce.
