- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk melted butter and granulated sugar until glossy. Add eggs one at a time, then stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
- Sift in flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Fold gently until just combined.
- Pour most of the chocolate batter into the prepared pan, reserving about ½ cup for swirling.
- In a separate bowl, mix softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and remaining 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until smooth.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture over the brownie layer. Drop spoonfuls of the reserved chocolate batter on top and swirl gently with a knife.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until the edges are set and the center has a slight wobble.
- Cool completely before slicing into 12 squares and serving.
Notes
- Do not overbake, the center should remain slightly soft for a fudgy texture.
- Chill for 30 minutes before slicing for cleaner cuts.
- Add ½ cup chocolate chips or chopped nuts for extra texture if desired.
