Description

Rich, fudgy chocolate brownies swirled with a creamy vanilla cream cheese layer, baked to perfection with crackly tops and dense, melt-in-your-mouth centers.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk melted butter and granulated sugar until glossy. Add eggs one at a time, then stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  3. Sift in flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Fold gently until just combined.
  4. Pour most of the chocolate batter into the prepared pan, reserving about ½ cup for swirling.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and remaining 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until smooth.
  6. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the brownie layer. Drop spoonfuls of the reserved chocolate batter on top and swirl gently with a knife.
  7. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until the edges are set and the center has a slight wobble.
  8. Cool completely before slicing into 12 squares and serving.

Notes

  • Do not overbake, the center should remain slightly soft for a fudgy texture.
  • Chill for 30 minutes before slicing for cleaner cuts.
  • Add ½ cup chocolate chips or chopped nuts for extra texture if desired.
