Description

Perfectly baked sweet potatoes with crispy skins and soft, fluffy interiors. Whether you’re going sweet or savory, this simple method brings out their natural sweetness and satisfying texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium sweet potatoes, scrubbed and dried
  • 2 tsp olive oil (optional)
  • ½ tsp salt (optional)
  • Optional toppings: butter, cinnamon, maple syrup, herbs, tahini

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (218°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment or foil for easier cleanup.
  2. Poke each sweet potato all over with a fork to allow steam to escape.
  3. Brush skins lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with salt if desired.
  4. Place sweet potatoes on baking sheet or directly on oven rack with a sheet underneath to catch drips.
  5. Bake 45–60 minutes, until very tender and juices are bubbling out. Time varies by size.
  6. Let rest 5 minutes. Slice open, fluff with a fork, and add your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • Bake uncovered for crisp skin, wrap in foil for softer skin.
  • Use similar-sized potatoes for even cooking.
  • Great for meal prep and freezer-friendly.
