Description

Chewy, glossy homemade fruit leather with a playful Kool-Aid tang and bright strawberry sweetness, easy to prep and perfect for make-ahead snacking.

Ingredients

  • Strawberries: 2 cups, hulled and chopped
  • Sugar: 1/2 cup
  • Kool-Aid powder: 1 packet, any flavor
  • Lemon juice: 1 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 170°F, or the lowest setting your oven allows.
  2. Blend strawberries, sugar, Kool-Aid powder, and lemon juice until completely smooth.
  3. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  4. Pour the purée onto the lined sheet and spread evenly to about 1/8 inch thickness.
  5. Bake 3 to 4 hours until the surface is dry to the touch, glossy, and flexible, not sticky.
  6. Cool completely, then gently peel the fruit leather from the liner.
  7. Cut into strips, roll with parchment, and store airtight.

Notes

  • Rotate the pan halfway through for even drying.
  • Taste the purée and adjust sweetness before baking.
  • If edges dry faster, trim them early to prevent cracking.
  • Cool fully before cutting for clean, tear-free strips.
  • Store rolls in an airtight container at room temperature up to 2 weeks, or freeze up to 3 months.
