Description
Chewy, glossy homemade fruit leather with a playful Kool-Aid tang and bright strawberry sweetness, easy to prep and perfect for make-ahead snacking.
Ingredients
- Strawberries: 2 cups, hulled and chopped
- Sugar: 1/2 cup
- Kool-Aid powder: 1 packet, any flavor
- Lemon juice: 1 tablespoon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 170°F, or the lowest setting your oven allows.
- Blend strawberries, sugar, Kool-Aid powder, and lemon juice until completely smooth.
- Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- Pour the purée onto the lined sheet and spread evenly to about 1/8 inch thickness.
- Bake 3 to 4 hours until the surface is dry to the touch, glossy, and flexible, not sticky.
- Cool completely, then gently peel the fruit leather from the liner.
- Cut into strips, roll with parchment, and store airtight.
Notes
- Rotate the pan halfway through for even drying.
- Taste the purée and adjust sweetness before baking.
- If edges dry faster, trim them early to prevent cracking.
- Cool fully before cutting for clean, tear-free strips.
- Store rolls in an airtight container at room temperature up to 2 weeks, or freeze up to 3 months.
