Description
Soft, golden Hawaiian Roll French Toast is soaked in a vanilla-cinnamon custard and pan-fried to perfection. Fluffy inside and crisp outside, it’s a dreamy breakfast that feels like a treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package (12 rolls) Hawaiian Rolls
- 4 large Eggs
- ¾ cup Whole Milk
- ¼ cup Heavy Cream
- 1½ teaspoons Vanilla Extract
- ½ teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon Salt
- Butter, for frying
- Maple Syrup, for serving
- Powdered Sugar, for dusting
- Fresh Berries or Banana Slices, optional
Instructions
- Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat and melt a bit of butter.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
- Pour the mixture into a shallow dish.
- Slice rolls in half horizontally. Dip each half quickly into the custard, ensuring it’s coated but not soggy.
- Place dipped rolls cut-side down into the skillet. Cook for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown and set.
- Repeat with remaining rolls, adding more butter as needed.
- Stack cooked French toast on a plate. Dust with powdered sugar and drizzle with maple syrup.
- Top with fresh fruit if desired and serve warm.
Notes
- Use slightly stale rolls for better texture.
- Don’t oversoak the rolls—they absorb quickly.
- Warm maple syrup before serving for maximum flavor.
