Description

Juicy, flavorful, and stacked just right, this homemade hamburger recipe is your go-to for satisfying that classic burger craving. Perfectly seared patties, melty cheese, fresh toppings, and toasty buns come together for a crave-worthy meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 4 cheddar cheese slices
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 8 pickle slices
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 4 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. In a bowl, gently mix the ground beef with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Form the beef mixture into 4 equal patties and press a small indent in the center of each.
  4. Lightly oil the grill or skillet surface.
  5. Cook the patties for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, adding cheese slices during the final minute.
  6. Toast the burger buns until golden and warm.
  7. Assemble the burgers with lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions (if using), the patty with cheese, ketchup, and mustard.
  8. Serve warm with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Chill patties before cooking to help them hold shape.
  • Don’t press down on the patties while cooking to retain juices.
  • Toasted buns make a big difference in flavor and texture.
  • Customize with your favorite toppings or sauces.
