Description

Smoky, golden grilled tofu brushed with a savory soy glaze and finished with sesame seeds and fresh green onions. Crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and packed with balanced sweet and tangy flavor.


Ingredients

  • 14 ounces firm tofu, pressed and sliced into thick slabs
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium high heat.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, olive oil, maple syrup, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and black pepper until combined.
  3. Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
  4. Brush the marinade generously over each tofu slice and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  5. Place the tofu on the grill and cook for 4 to 5 minutes per side until golden with visible grill marks.
  6. Brush with remaining marinade during the last minute of grilling.
  7. Transfer to a serving plate and sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

  • Press the tofu for at least 20 minutes to remove excess moisture for better texture.
  • Use firm or extra firm tofu to ensure it holds its shape on the grill.
  • Marinate up to 24 hours in advance for deeper flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
