Description

Finger steaks are tender strips of beef, battered and deep-fried to perfection, typically served with a dipping sauce. They are a classic snack or appetizer, often enjoyed with fries or a fresh salad. A true comfort food for any occasion.

Ingredients

– 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, cut into strips

– 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

– 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)

– 1 teaspoon garlic powder

– 1 teaspoon onion powder

– 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

– 1 large egg

– 1/4 cup buttermilk (or regular milk)

– Vegetable oil for frying

– Dipping sauce (optional, like ranch or BBQ)

Instructions

1. Cut the beef steak into strips about 1-inch wide.

2. In a shallow bowl, combine flour, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

3. In another bowl, whisk the egg and buttermilk together.

4. Dip each beef strip into the egg mixture, then coat it with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to ensure a good coating.

5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat (about 350°F or 175°C).

6. Fry the beef strips in batches for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

7. Remove the finger steaks from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.

8. Serve with your choice of dipping sauce, such as ranch or BBQ.

Notes

– If you prefer a lighter option, you can bake the finger steaks at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through.

– These finger steaks can also be made with chicken for a variation.

– Pair with some crispy fries or a simple salad for a complete meal.
