- 16 ounces extra firm tofu, pressed and cut into 1 inch cubes
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, optional garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, gently toss the pressed tofu cubes with olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
- Arrange the tofu cubes in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each piece.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and brush each cube generously with barbecue sauce.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes, until the sauce is bubbling and slightly caramelized.
- Let the tofu rest for 5 minutes, then sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley if desired and serve warm.
Notes
- Press the tofu well to remove excess moisture for better texture.
- Do not overcrowd the pan to allow proper browning.
- Use a thick barbecue sauce for better caramelization.
- Reheat leftovers in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 minutes to restore crispness.
