Description

Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and coated in a smoky sweet glaze, this Easy BBQ Tofu is a bold and satisfying plant based dish that is perfect for bowls, wraps, or simple weeknight dinners.


Ingredients

  • 16 ounces extra firm tofu, pressed and cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, optional garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, gently toss the pressed tofu cubes with olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Arrange the tofu cubes in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each piece.
  4. Bake for 20 minutes.
  5. Remove from the oven and brush each cube generously with barbecue sauce.
  6. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes, until the sauce is bubbling and slightly caramelized.
  7. Let the tofu rest for 5 minutes, then sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley if desired and serve warm.

Notes

  • Press the tofu well to remove excess moisture for better texture.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan to allow proper browning.
  • Use a thick barbecue sauce for better caramelization.
  • Reheat leftovers in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 minutes to restore crispness.
