Description

A creamy, comforting bowl of Custard Oatmeal that blends the smooth richness of vanilla custard with the heartiness of oats. Perfect for cozy mornings or a sweet evening treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Place a saucepan over medium heat and have your whisk ready.
  2. In the saucepan, combine milk, oats, sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Stir and bring to a gentle simmer.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, cream, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Slowly pour the hot oatmeal mixture into the egg mixture while whisking continuously.
  5. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly until thick and creamy.
  6. Stir in the butter and let it melt into the custard for a glossy finish.
  7. Spoon into bowls, sprinkle with extra cinnamon if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

  • For dairy-free, use almond or coconut milk and coconut cream.
  • Add caramelized apples or fresh berries for extra flavor.
  • Reheat leftovers gently with a splash of milk to restore creaminess.
