Description

Crispy golden tofu cubes tossed in bold chili crisp, soy sauce, and a hint of maple sweetness. This quick and flavorful dish delivers the perfect balance of crunch, heat, and savory depth, making it ideal for weeknight dinners or meal prep.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 14 ounces firm tofu, pressed and cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons neutral oil
  • 3 tablespoons chili crisp
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat for a few minutes.
  2. Toss the pressed tofu cubes with cornstarch in a mixing bowl until evenly coated.
  3. Add neutral oil to the skillet and swirl to coat the bottom evenly.
  4. Arrange the tofu cubes in a single layer in the skillet without overcrowding.
  5. Cook for 10 to 12 minutes, turning occasionally, until all sides are golden brown and crisp. During the last 2 minutes, add minced garlic and cook briefly until fragrant. In a small bowl, stir together chili crisp, soy sauce, and maple syrup, then pour over the tofu and toss gently to coat.
  6. Cook for another 1 to 2 minutes so the sauce clings to the tofu without burning.
  7. Transfer to a serving bowl, sprinkle with sliced green onions, and serve hot.

Notes

  • Press the tofu thoroughly to achieve maximum crispiness.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan to ensure even browning.
  • Adjust the amount of chili crisp to control the spice level.
  • Reheat leftovers in a skillet to restore texture.
