Description

Crispy baked chicken rolled with savory ham and melted Swiss cheese, coated in golden breadcrumbs and baked to perfection. A comforting yet elegant main dish that feels restaurant-worthy but is easy to make at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large boneless skinless chicken breasts, about 2 pounds total, pounded to even thickness
  • 8 thin slices deli ham, about 8 ounces total
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese, about 8 ounces total
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs, plain or lightly seasoned
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Olive oil spray, light coating

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Place flour in one shallow bowl, beaten eggs in another, and breadcrumbs mixed with salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a third bowl.
  3. Pound chicken breasts to about half an inch thickness and lay flat.
  4. Place two slices of ham and two slices of Swiss cheese on each chicken breast. Roll tightly and secure with toothpicks.
  5. Dredge each roll in flour, dip in beaten eggs, then coat evenly with breadcrumb mixture.
  6. Arrange in prepared baking dish and lightly spray tops with olive oil.
  7. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  8. Let rest for 5 minutes, remove toothpicks, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Chill rolled chicken for 15 minutes before breading to help maintain shape.
  • Do not overfill to prevent cheese from leaking during baking.
  • Let the chicken rest before slicing to keep juices inside.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
