Description

Buttery garlic bread stuffed with tender chicken, creamy Alfredo sauce, and melted cheeses, baked until golden and bubbly for a comforting, handheld feast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced
  • 1 1/2 cups Alfredo sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 4 large French or Italian sub rolls
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Equipment: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the cooked chicken with Alfredo sauce, 1 cup mozzarella, 1/2 cup Parmesan, and season with salt and pepper until evenly combined.
  3. Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Slice each roll lengthwise without cutting all the way through, then gently hollow out some of the interior to create space for the filling.
  4. Assemble the Dish: Fill each hollowed roll with the creamy chicken and cheese mixture, pressing gently so the filling is evenly distributed.
  5. Cook to Perfection: In a small saucepan, melt butter with minced garlic and chopped parsley. Brush the garlic butter over the tops and sides of the filled subs. Place subs on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15 to 20 minutes until golden, cheese is melted, and edges are crisp.
  6. Finishing Touches: Remove from the oven, brush again with any remaining garlic butter, and sprinkle extra grated Parmesan and chopped parsley if desired. Let rest for 3 to 5 minutes to set the filling.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Slice each sub, serve warm with optional marinara for dipping, and enjoy.

Notes

  • Make filling ahead and refrigerate up to 24 hours for quick assembly and baking.
  • Use rotisserie chicken to save time while keeping great flavor.
  • Brush with garlic butter twice, before and after baking, for maximum aroma and gloss.
  • To freeze, assemble unbaked subs, wrap tightly, and freeze; bake from frozen adding about 10 extra minutes.
