Description

Soft and fluffy purple bread rolls filled with creamy cheddar cheese, slightly sweet and perfect for breakfast or snack time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (500 g) all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons (7 g) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (240 ml) warm milk
  • 1/4 cup (60 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup (250 g) ube halaya
  • 1 teaspoon ube extract
  • 150 g cheddar cheese, cubed
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F or 175 C.
  2. Mix warm milk and yeast, let sit 5 minutes. Add sugar, eggs, butter, ube halaya, and ube extract. Stir well. Add flour and salt gradually to form a soft dough.
  3. Knead until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1 to 1.5 hours.
  4. Punch down dough, divide into portions, flatten each piece, fill with cheddar, seal, and roll in bread crumbs.
  5. Arrange on lined tray, let rise 30 to 40 minutes.
  6. Bake 18 to 22 minutes until lightly golden at the base.
  7. Cool slightly and serve warm.

Notes

  • Seal the cheese tightly to prevent leaks.
  • Do not overbake to keep the bread soft.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
