Description

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius) and grease an 8 inch round cake pan.
  2. Cream softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix just until combined.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top evenly.
  7. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
