- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3–4 tablespoons milk
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
- Add milk and vanilla extract, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Divide dough in half and press one portion into the prepared pan.
- Mix brown sugar and cinnamon for filling, then spread evenly over the dough base.
- Crumble the remaining dough over the filling and gently press down.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and fragrant.
- Cool completely, then whisk powdered sugar and milk to make glaze.
- Drizzle glaze over cooled bars, let it set, then slice and serve.
Notes
- Chill the dough before baking for a flakier texture.
- Let bars cool fully before glazing to keep the icing from melting.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
