Description

This Best Banana Pudding is the ultimate creamy, dreamy dessert layered with fresh bananas, vanilla wafers, and a luscious vanilla pudding mixture. It’s a comforting Southern classic that’s as perfect for potlucks and holidays as it is for a sweet family treat.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 1/2 cups cold water
  • 1 (3.4 oz) package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 3 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 (11 oz) box vanilla wafers
  • 45 ripe bananas, sliced

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk and cold water until combined.
  2. Add the pudding mix and whisk for about 2 minutes until thickened. Refrigerate for at least 5 minutes to set.
  3. In another bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gently fold the whipped cream into the pudding mixture until fully combined and smooth.
  5. In a 9×13-inch dish, layer vanilla wafers, followed by banana slices, then spread a layer of pudding mixture over the top. Repeat the layers, ending with the pudding mixture.
  6. Crush a few vanilla wafers and sprinkle them on top for garnish.
  7. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, before serving.

Notes

  • For a twist, try adding a layer of caramel sauce between the bananas and pudding.
  • Use slightly firm bananas to prevent browning.
  • Best served within 24 hours for the freshest banana flavor.
