Ingredients
- Roma tomatoes: 6 medium, chopped
- Red onion: 1 small, diced
- Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
- Jalapeño: 1, seeded and chopped
- Fresh cilantro: 1 cup, chopped
- Lime juice: juice of 1 lime
- Salt: 1 teaspoon
- Ground cumin: 1/2 teaspoon
- Sugar: 1/2 teaspoon, optional
Instructions
- Prep the produce by chopping tomatoes, dicing onion, mincing garlic, and chopping jalapeño and cilantro.
- Add tomatoes, onion, garlic, jalapeño, cilantro, lime juice, salt, cumin, and optional sugar to a blender or food processor.
- Pulse several times until you reach a slightly chunky restaurant-style texture.
- Transfer the salsa to a mixing bowl and let it rest for 10 to 15 minutes for flavors to meld.
- Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt or lime as needed.
- Serve with warm tortilla chips or spoon over tacos, burritos, and grilled dishes.
Notes
- For extra heat, include some jalapeño seeds or swap in a serrano pepper.
- For a smoky twist, roast the tomatoes, onion, and jalapeño before blending.
- If salsa tastes too acidic, balance with a pinch more sugar.
- Chill before serving for the freshest, brightest flavor.
